About Us

At Alaska Family Health & Birth Center (AFH&BC), we take pride in offering Interior Alaska families quality alternative maternity care. Also known by our nonprofit designation, Via Vita Health Project, Inc., AFH&BC was birthed into existence in 1983. The center has since assisted thousands of Alaskan women in creating the birthing experiences they desire, whether in the privacy and comfort of our clinic, or in the familiar intimacy of their own homes. Our staff consists of four certified direct-entry midwives (CDMs) and a certified medical assistant/pharmacy technician (CMA and C.PhT). Each of us are uniquely qualified to provide the first-rate maternity care you desire.

AFH&BC is fully licenced by the State of Alaska Board of Certified Direct-Entry Midwives, and we continually strive to research, evaluate and adopt new field-relevant information and trends that are harmonious with our mission and philosophy. We are located near downtown Fairbanks at 728 Gaffney Rd., Suite 100, adjacent to the Fairbanks Chiropractic Clinic. Our office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday. We can be reached at (907) 456-3719. Please feel free to visit our clinic any time during our normal office hours; we would be happy to give you a tour and discuss your maternity needs. Or, email us at [email protected] with any specific questions.
